Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters (ANCHOR) Program – Public Events

Several community and local governments are hosting free events to help you participate in the Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters (ANCHOR) program.

Division of Taxation staff will be present at these events to:

  • Assist in determining your eligibility for the ANCHOR program.
  • Provide information such as New Jersey gross income or, ID and PIN (homeowners only), which can be used when completing an ANCHOR application.
  • Help file your homeowner or tenant ANCHOR application.
  • Answer your questions about the program.
  • Check the status of your previously filed application, or verify whether you have already filed.

Annual Celebration of the Life & Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Mayor Derek Armstead, the Linden Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Committee, and Senior Pastor Therman E. Evans, MD, PhD. of Morning Star Community Christian Center invite you to attend the annual celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

  • What: Annual celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., featuring speaker Dr. Leo Blackshear of Morning Star Community Christian Center. Masks are mandatory.
  • Where: Morning Star Community Christian Center, which is located at 1009 Chandler Avenue.
  • When: Monday, January 16, 2023 at 11am.
  • How: Masks mandatory. The in-person event will also stream live on Facebook and YouTube.

Annual Coat Drive

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Kayode Mckinnon Soccer Academy proudly host the annual Coat Drive. Give back to those in need!

  • What: Annual Coat Drive. Free coats and winter accessories will be available for all families in the surrounding community.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Recreation Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street, Linden, NJ 07036.
  • When: Wednesday, December 28 from 9am until 12pm.

Community Wide Garage Sale to be Held in 3rd & 8th Wards – All Fees Waived

The City of Linden is hosting a community-wide garage sale in the 3rd and 8th Wards on October 1, 2022.

  • The City of Linden is waiving fees for permits for this community-wide garage sale.
  • The 3rd and 8th Ward garage sale shall not impact a resident’s right to conduct up to two garage sales in a year.
  • Chapter 4-3.6 shall still apply, limiting one singled faced sign containing not more than four square feet in total area to be placed upon the premises where the sale is being conducted, and further prohibiting any other signs and either public or private property.

Help Rebuild the Linden VFW

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, NJDEMS Veterans Caucus, Union County Democratic Committee and VET4U invite you to attend the fundraiser to help rebuild the Linden Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

  • What: Fundraiser to help rebuild the Linden VFW featuring live music, raffles, doors prizes and more.
  • Where: Central Park NJ, which is located at 2401 North Wood Avenue, Roselle, NJ 07203.
  • When: Monday, September 12th from 6:30pm until 8:30pm.

The City of Linden 2022 Polish Festival!

Mayor Derek Armstead, Council President Michele Yamakaitis, the City of Linden, Uptown Linden, the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union present the 3rd annual City of Linden 2022 Polish Festival. Bringing the Polish community together for one big event!

  • Who: Fun for all ages!
  • What: Polish festival with authentic Polish food, a beer and wine tent, Polish vendors, Polish Living History, live Polish music & DJ, and children’s activities.
  • Where: In front of Linden City Hall (301 North Wood Avenue) and the Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade (400 North Wood Avenue).
  • When: Saturday, September 17th from 1pm until 9pm. Rain date is Sunday, September 18th.

Drive-Through Food Distribution – Linden

Mayor Derek Armstead and the City of Linden in partnership with Mosdos Hatorah Dlinden are proud to announce food distribution of kosher food boxes for six (6) weeks beginning on Monday, July 25th, 2022.

  • What: Drive-through food distribution of kosher food boxes while supplies last.
  • Where: 139 Marion Avenue in the parking lot behind 1600 West Elizabeth Avenue. Please follow the directions provided in the flyer and map.
  • When: Mondays from 6pm until 7:30pm. The first distribution will be held on July 25th, 2022. The final distribution will be held on August 29th, 2022.
  • How: Please make sure your trunk is open before entering the distribution site. On behalf of our local Police Department and Traffic Control, please come down Stiles Street, turn onto West Elizabeth Avenue, make a right on Marion Avenue and a left into the distribution center’s parking lot behind 1600 West Elizabeth Avenue.
