Linden Girl Open Run Nights

Linden Girl Open Run Nights is a new and free program for high school girls, which consists of open basketball runs at the Linden Multi Purpose Center. This program will be run by the girls middle school basketball coach Kyle Phipps and Department of Parks & Recreation Leader Rooks Crawford every Thursday night from 6pm until 8pm.

Polish American Sports Association ~ Polania 5K Run

Join us for the 7th Polania 5K Run. The 7th Polania 5K Run is held in loving memory of Jacob D. Krygowski.

The 7th Polania 5K Run is proudly sponsored by the Polish American Sports Association, the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union, AK Progress Corporation, Adams European Contracting and BDG Hotels. Race VIP special guests include Olympian Short Track Skater, Natalia Maliszewska, and Olympian Speed Skater, Piotr Michalski. Awards ceremony to follow with T-shirts, food, beverages and music for all runners. Awards will be given to 1st overall finishers in all age, male, female, teacher, fireman and policeman categories.   • When: Sunday May 22nd, 2022. Packet pickup is from 7:30am until 9:30am, Dash Around the Block (kids 8 years and younger) starts at 9:30am, the Main Race starts at 10:00am, and the award ceremony will begin at 12pm.
  • Where: Start/Finish beside Elemntary School No. 1 on East Curtis Street, Linden NJ 07036.
  • How: To register, click here. Online registration fees for the Kids Dash is $15, for the Main Race for kids over 8 to 18 is $20, for students is $25 and for adults is $35. Same day registratoin will cost an extra $10 per registrant.

Lexington Dog Park Dedication & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

2nd Ward Councilman Barry E. Javick, Mayor Armstead, the City of LInden and Sparky the Fire Dog invite you to attend the Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Lexington Dog Park! A free event with pictures, giveaways and fun for your whole family!

Hooked On Fishing 2022

  • Who: Ages 5 through 18
    • All children 5 through 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Ages 16 and older will need to purchase a fishing license.
  • What: The Hooked on Fishing program will teach children basic fishing skills, including how to string and bait a pole, how to cast a line and about local fishing regulations
  • When: May 7th, May 15th, May 21st, June 5th, June 11th, June 19th, July 7th, July 14th, July 21st, July 28th and August 6th. All classes are from 11am until 1pm except for the June 5th Fishing Derby. The June 5th Fishing Derby will be held from 10am until 2pm, with awards at 2:30pm.
  • Where: McGillvray Pond inside Wilson Park; 1100 Summit Terrace
  • How: Registration deadline is May 2nd, 2022. Register online here and click on Community Pass (24/7), or register in person at one of the following locations: Community Center Building – 605 South Wood Avenue (9:30am – 4:30pm), John T. Gregorio Center – 330 Helen Street (9am – 4pm) or the Linden Multi-Purpose Center – 125 John Street (9am – 7pm).

PLEASE NOTE: all new “first time” participants must bring: original documents at the time of registration and we will make copies. Required documents: original birth certificate of child, a household bill showing proof of residency & a driver’s license or photo I.D. for parent/guardian signing up their child.

*Must attend 4 of the Hooked on Fishing event dates, including the June 5th derby to be eligible to attend the season end picnic on August 6th*

2022 Annual Easter Egg Hunt!

In celebration of Easter, Mayor Armstead, the Mayor’s Youth Commission, the Department of Public Property and the Linden Department of Parks and Recreation are hosting the Annual Citywide Easter Egg Hunt!

  • Who: For children ages 12 and under.
  • When: April 16th, 2022 @ 11am sharp!
  • Where: @ Wilson Park by the Sumit Terrace side, behind the High School Academy Building.
  • How: Just show up! Please bring your own Easter basket or a bag will be provided.

Free Income Tax Help

The City of Linden Department of Parks & Recreation announces that they are partnering with AARP Tax-Aide to offer free income tax help to all Linden residents. All volunteers are IRS certified and can address most issues asked by their clients.

Appointments are needed. Appointments are on Tuesdays, starting February 15th through April 12th, at 9:30am, 10am, 10:30am or 11am at the John T. Gregorio Center, 330 Helen Street. To schedule an appointment, call 908-474-8600 between 9am and 4pm, Monday through Friday.

Participants must bring a copy of last year’s tax return, Social Security card, photo ID, children’s Social Security cards, all W-2’s, 1099s’ and any other documents necessary to complete their tax return.

Winter Recreation Registration

Registration has begun for the City of Linden Department of Parks & Recreation winter season. The department offers a variety of classes for youth, adults and senior citizens, in such areas as soccer, wrestling, karate, art, ceramics, arts & crafts, line dancing, Zumba, knitting, complete fitness and more.

Thanksgiving Grab & Go 2021

Mayor Derek Armstead, The City of Linden, and The Department of Parks & Recreation’s Thanksgiving Grab and GO Dinner on Saturday November 20,2021 served approximately one hundred people. The staff at the Linden Multipurpose Center prepared, cooked and served a delicious hot meal & dessert to members of the community who attended.
